Thus, engineering students should start picking up communication skills before stepping into the workforce.

    The flow of the summary is smooth and I understood the main points of this quote. For language wise, I feel the that the the first sentence was slightly difficult to understand, can possibly put a comma to break the sentence up but otherwise, I do agree with your explanation of your quote.
